| | | Middlesbrough Charity Event |
| |
 | Middlesbrough are hosting a charity event played to blackball rules and Ayr and District Dynamos are coming to the boro!
We have a cracking little tournament for all you blackballers in the UK. On 15th May 2010 at Rileys, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough there will be a charity event.
As a new area to blackball pool I'm proud to offer all teams in the UK the chance to come and support this event.
The best news is we have a SPA team taking part! The Ayr and Districk Dynamos are coming to middlesbrough to try and give us teessiders a lesson in blackball pool! The event is for charity and all teams taking part will have a say on which charity will prosper.
We have had great support with this. It will be 5-man team event challenge and the costs is a mere £5 per player.... cheap as chips!
Teams confirmed..... Teesside County select squads x3 SPA Ayr & District Dynamos Cheshire select team - possibly x2?
I'm waiting for answers from East and West Yorkshire! So will update and open a thread on this site.
We really would like to see a Derby women's team at this event, as well as a Welsh team if possible?
If your county can get a team of 5 up to the bonny boro' then we really would open our hearts for your input!
We will be getting a nice trophy sorted for this and the winning team can have bragging rights!
Kindest regards, Scott Middlesbrough Central Pool League

| | | Hunt Is On To Find The Next 'Rocket' Ronnie |
| |
 | Press Release
HUNT IS ON TO FIND NEXT 'ROCKET' RONNIE
Snooker clubs giant Rileys and legend O'Sullivan team up to tap into talent. Rileys, the UK's leading cue sports operator, have teamed up with green baize legend Ronnie O'Sullivan to find the future star of snooker . . . . . . .

Ronnie and Rileys believe they can find the next 'Rocket' through a series of 'Future Stars' competitions nationwide for under-16s starting 27th March Regional events will produce 120 winners, who then go head-to-head at regional venues until 8 players are left standing.
The 8 will attend a 'boot camp' in Sheffield during the World Championships where they will be coached by top players in the game. They will then be put through their paces in a series of skills tests and interviews with Ronnie, who will then choose his winner – and start the process of turning him into snooker superstar!
Along with this top coaching and mentoring by Ronnie, Rileys will provide the winner with a financial package worth £5,000 to support his snooker dreams. Ronnie said: "Firstly, this youngster will have to love the game. Then, he or she will need pots of talents. And probably most important of all, the desire to go all the way. "The winner will work on cue skills and strategies with me, and I will do everything I can to help.
Rileys CEO Maurice Kelly said: "One of the reasons for signing Ronnie O'Sullivan as our Snooker Ambassador was because he impressed us with his determination to put something back into the game. "Rileys are only too pleased to help make this Search for a new 'Rocket' Ronnie a reality."
Chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association Barry Hearn said: "This is exactly what snooker requires. A top player like Ronnie O'Sullivan getting involved at the grassroots of the game. "What a fantastic opportunity for the youngster who comes out on top and gets Ronnie as his mentor and trainer. "The WPBSA is right behind this. I will be watching the players' progress all the way."
Rileys have 126 clubs nationwide. Each club offers high quality pool and snooker tables and good food in a family-friendly environment.

| | | Scottish Eightball Pool Federation Crisis Meeting |
| |
 | The Scottish Eightball Pool Federation AGM is to be held at Styx Pool Hall, Kirkcaldy on 7th February 2010. This meeting is likely to have crucial consequences for the SEPF who are affiliated to the World Eightball Pool Association and who's members play to 'World Rules'.
Around six leagues in Scotland affiliate to the SEPF, most notably Aberdeen District Pool League.
Amid rumours of debts approaching £7000 and the misappropriation of funds, the future of the SEPF in its present form may hang in the balance.
There is ongoing debate as to whether Aberdeen League should now affiliate to the Scottish Pool Association and make the changeover to 'blackball' rules. View : adpl.co.uk | |
